“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. ” – President Barack Obama
Who does not love Facebook? I mean really who does not love Facebook? They are expected to hit the 1 billion with a capital “B” user mark by August. The company is a huge machine that drives business, relationships, commerce, communication, networking, and more. Everyone in the world may not be on Facebook yet, but you would be hard pressed to find someone in ‘civilized’ parts of the world who do not know Facebook exists.
The point of today’s blog is to address the multitude of both negative and positive status messages I see on Facebook daily. Some people complain in the winter because it’s too cold, complain in the summer because it’s too hot, complain in spring because summer is not here yet, complain in fall because the year flew by…COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN. While others chose to share their life story in play-by-play format (i.e. I just ate dinner, I just sat down, I’m here, I’m there, I’m going where?) We have people who use Facebook as a platform to discuss politics, religion, relationships, work, education, family and friends.
We have people such as myself who use Facebook to do all of the ABOVE…and promote their goals, aspirations, and businesses. So what type of Facebooker are you? More importantly are you the person you plan to be, aspire to be, and are working to be online? Or are you the type of person who beats themselves up and is never satisfied with TODAY because you hope tomorrow will be better. Before I graduated from undergrad one of my professors told me a great statement “When you enter the work force carry yourself including dress, attitude, effort and demeanor like you are in the position you aspire to obtain, NOT like a person in your current position” So I ask again how do you present yourself online?
Change is not easy, but is necessary if you hope to achieve something, you’ve never achieved before…
Just like in actual human interaction, online you never know how a simple quote, a simple phrase can empower someone else to be something GREATER…don’t use your online presence as a tool to bring others down to a comfortable level for YOU to make YOU feel better. INSTEAD use your FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM,LINKEDIN, GOOGLE +, NING, MEET UP, or any other site as a constant barrage of empowerment…
NOT ONLY ARE YOU WHAT YOU EAT and DRINK, YOU ARE WHAT YOU SAY, THINK, WRITE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY…DO
So What are you doing on Facebook today, are you afraid of GREATNESS, AN OPTIMIST OR PESSIMIST FROM THIS DAY FOURTH MAKE SURE YOU ARE GRABBING LIFE BY THE HORNS AND DRIVING IT INTO YOUR GOALS ONLINE AND OFF?
Be GREAT at what you do today!
