Tomorrow, You’re Only a Day Away…

Time is what prevents everything from happening at once.  ~John Archibald Wheeler

The famous song in the musical Annie about tomorrow is meant to be an uplifting viewpoint on what is obviously not a very good day.  An excerpt from the song is below:

“The sun’ll come out tomorrow Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there’ll be sun Just thinkin’ about tomorrow Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow till there’s none
When I’m stuck with a day that’s gray and lonely I just stick out my chin and grin and say
The sun’ll come out tomorrow So you got to hang on till tomorrow, came what may! Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow You’re always a day away”

I would argue this song is contrary to how you should view life. In fact this song is destructive to how you should go about living a DRIVEN life. Though we all know the odds are very heavy that the sun will come out tomorrow, rather or not it’s a better day should not weigh on the weather or any other variables. We are what we think we are, and therefore the day is WHAT WE MAKE IT. Today in Baltimore, its a rainy and cloudy day. Normally a day reserved for people to be in bad moods and seek out the sunshine that tomorrow will hopefully bring. BUT…in doing so they end up wasting an entire day.

TODAY is the greatest day of your life, first of all because you should have that perspective on each day. As time goes by each day becomes greater. Why? it’s another day to reach your goals, another day to enjoy your family and the ones you love, another day to breathe, for some another day to enjoy a great cheeseburger…whatever brings you joy TODAY could be your last day to do it so you are better off making the best of it and not getting down because of the weather.

So I ask are you making the best of the time right now? We are 11 hours into the day what have you done with it? It does not matter, because the next minute will be greater anyway.

The point of today’s blog is to say do not let time pass. Make each day great, stop longing for tomorrow and instead ENJOY TODAY! Stop waiting for the weekend to enjoy life, cherish all you have, had, lost…and focus on what you want and make strides for it TODAY.

Be GREAT at what you do today!
